COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Alyssa Thomas scored 15 points, Lynetta Kizer had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and No. 15 Maryland used a late surge to beat lowly Virginia Tech 61-48 Thursday night.
The Terrapins were tied with the last-place team in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 12 minutes remaining before Thomas and Laurin Mincy fueled a pivotal 21-7 run. Mincy scored 12 points, all on long-range jumpers.
Maryland (22-6, 8-5) has won six straight against Virginia Tech (11-17, 1-12) since 2005.
Brittany Gordon had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Shanel Harrison scored 11 for the Hokies.
Virginia Tech opened the second half with an 11-4 run to pull even at 37 with 12:40 left. Gordon got the Hokies started with two straight baskets, and Harrison contributed five points to the spree.
