McCord’s Toyota opens $12.5M eco-showroom

McCord’s Vancouver Toyota has opened a $12.5 million showroom and service center on 9 acres south of the dealership’s original 10009 N.E. Fourth Plain Road showroom, which opened in 1982.

The new facility was designed to minimize waste and energy use. For example, a boiler system uses recycled oil from oil changes to heat the building. A rooftop system captures rainwater to supply the dealership’s drive-through car wash.

Constructed by Building Structures Inc. of Boring, Ore., the dealership’s 50,000-square-foot building is being evaluated for certification by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.
