POMONA, Calif. (AP) — Persistent rain showers forced NHRA officials to cancel qualifying runs Friday at the NHRA Winternationals.

Qualifying will resume Saturday, weather permitting, with two sessions for the season-opening races. Eliminations begin Sunday.

The qualifying leaders after Thursday’s first session were Antron Brown in Top Fuel, Johnny Gray in Funny Car and Erica Enders in Pro Stock.
