Six-pack of Clark County prep basketball teams still playing

Evergreen boys

Regional: Richland Regional of the Class 4A state tournament.

Today’s game: Evergreen (17-7) vs. Ferris of Spokane (22-2), 5:45 p.m. at Richland High School.

At stake: Winner advances to play Gonzaga Prep-A.C. Davis loser at 3 p.m. Saturday for a chance to advance to the 4A state quarterfinals next week at the Tacoma Dome.

Game notes: A tough draw for the Plainsmen. A week ago, Ferris was 20-1 and the No. 2 team in the state. But the Saxons lost to Gonzaga Prep in the district title game and had to win two loser-out games last weekend to reach this point.

Evergreen girls

Regional: Richland Regional of the Class 4A state tournament.

Today’s game: Evergreen (17-8) vs. Gonzaga Prep of Spokane (20-4), 7:30 p.m. at Richland High School.

At stake: Winner advances to play Lewis & Clark-Chiawana loser at 1 p.m. Saturday for a chance to advance to the 4A state quarterfinals next week at the Tacoma Dome.

Game notes: Gonzaga Prep was the No. 1 seed heading into districts, but blew a 13-point lead in the final nine minutes against Lewis & Clark and lost. After winning to loser-out games last week, the Bullpups face another today.

Prairie girls

Regional: Auburn Regional of the Class 3A state tournament.

Today’s game: Prairie (24-0) vs. Lakeside of Seattle (16-9), 8 p.m. at Auburn Mountainview High School.

At stake: Winner advances to the state quarterfinals next week at the Tacoma Dome. Loser faces Seattle Prep-Wilson winner at 3 p.m. Saturday in a winner-to-state game at Auburn HS

Game notes: Lakeside earned the No. 3 seed from District 2 with a 45-43 win over Seattle Prep. Lakeside was routed by top-ranked Holy Names in the district semis. The game will be streamed live at www.carlclick.com.

Columbia Adventist boys

Regional: Timberline Regional of the Class 1B state tournament.

Today’s game: Columbia Adventist vs. Lummi of Bellingham, 3 p.m. at Timberline High School in Lacey.

At stake: Winner advances to the state quarterfinals next week at the Spokane Arena. Loser faces Taholah-Muckleshoot winner Saturday night in a winner-to-state game.

Game notes: Lummi was the No. 2 seed from District 1/2/3 after losing to unbeaten Mount Rainier Lutheran in the Tri-District title game. Columbia Adventist captured its first district title with a win Monday over King’s Way Christian.

King’s Way Christian boys

Regional: Mountlake Terrace Regional of Class 1B state tournament.

Today’s game: King’s Way Christian (18-5) vs. Northport (13-10), 4:15 p.m. at Mountlake Terrace High School.

At stake: Winner advances to play Neah Bay-Mount Rainier Lutheran loser on Saturday for a chance to advance to the 1B state quarterfinals next week at the Spokane Arena.

Game notes: Northport resides along the Columbia River in the extreme northeastern part of the state. The Mustangs have lost two of their last three. King’s Way is making its second state-tourney appearance.

Columbia Adventist girls

Regional: Mountlake Terrace Regional of Class 1B state tournament.

Today’s game: Columbia Adventist vs. Neah Bay, 2:30 p.m. at Mountlake Terrace High School.

At stake: Winner advances to the state quarterfinals next week at the Spokane Arena. Loser faces Selkirk-Mount Rainier Lutheran winner Saturday night in a winner-to-state game.

Game notes: Columbia Adventist lost to Taholah 43-42 in the District 4 title game, but still need just one win this weekend to make it to Spokane. Neah Bay won the District 1/2/3 championship with 45-33 win over Lopez Island.
