MOSCOW (AP) — Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva will miss the European indoor championships in Paris next week because of a cold.

Isinbayeva, who has set 27 world records, has been unable to practice since becoming ill last week. Her coach, Vitaly Petrov, told Russian daily Sovetskiy Sport that she could be fit in time for the March 4-6 event but she lacks enough practice.

Petrov says that Isinbayeva will head to Monte Carlo to prepare for the outdoor season once she recovers from her illness.
