OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Orlando Williams scored 26 points, Julian Mavunga had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Miami (Ohio) held off a late rally to beat Bowling Green 84-77 on Saturday.
Nick Winbush finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds for the RedHawks (15-14, 10-4 Mid-American Conference), who snapped a two-game losing streak and continued to maintain their second-place spot in the MAC’s East Division.
Miami seemed to have had the game won, taking a 78-68 lead with 2:11 left in the game after two free throws by Winbush. Instead, the RedHawks had trouble with Bowling Green, which went on a 9-1 run in less than a two minute span, cutting its deficit to two with 38 seconds left on Dee Brown’s 3-pointer.
But the Falcons (12-17, 7-7), who lost their fifth straight, did not pull closer as Miami built enough cushion with free throw shooting.
A’uston Calhoun led Bowling Green with 21 points.
