RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Devon Moore scored 18 points and made a key jumper to lead James Madison to a 72-69 win over Virginia Commonwealth in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday.

Denzel Bowles finished with 14 points and nine rebounds for the Dukes (21-10, 10-8 Colonial Athletic Association). Humpty Hitchens had 12 points and Julius Wells added 11.

Moore’s jumper broke a 58-58 tie with 10:24 left in the second half for James Madison, which led by as many as eight points in the half. The Dukes went on to push their margin to six points with just over seven minutes to play.

VCU’s Bradford Burgess made a layup with 2:07 left, trimming James Madison’s lead to 68-67. But Moore, who also had five assists, knocked down a jumper to put the Dukes ahead by three.

Jamie Skeen scored 20 points and Burgess had 17 for the Rams (21-10, 12-6).
