Murray State defeats Eastern Kentucky 66-56

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Isacc Miles scored 23 points to lead Murray State to a 66-56 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday night to clinch the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season championship.

The Racers (23-7, 14-4) have won 11 of their past 12 heading into the conference tournament, which begins Wednesday in Nashville, Tenn. Eastern Kentucky (15-15, 9-9), which has lost four straight games, is the No. 6 seed.

Murray State led 51-50 after Eastern Kentucky’s Taylor Filipek hit two free throws with 4:50 left, but the Racers went on a 10-0 run to take a 61-50 lead on Jeffery McClain’s two free throws with 1 minute to play.

Miles, who finished with five 3-pointers, and B.J. Jenkins each hit 3-pointers in the run.

Jenkins finished with 18 points for Murray State, which shot 52.6 percent from the field (20 of 38).

Spencer Perrin led the Colonels with 14 points and Jaron Jones added 12.
