Oakland, Mich. beats Southern Utah 82-68

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Will Hudson had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Oakland, Mich., finished its regular season with an 82-68 victory at Southern Utah Saturday night.

The Summit League champion Golden Grizzlies (22-9, 17-1) also had a double-double from Keith Benson, who had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Larry Wright and Ledrick Eackles had 10 points each for Oakland, and Drew Valentine had a team-high 12 rebounds.

Southern Utah led 12-5 in the first 8 minutes, but the Golden Grizzlies closed the half on a 21-2 run to lead 38-24 at the break. The game was never closer than the 14-point halftime or final margin in the second half.

Ramell Taylor led the Thunderbirds (11-18, 7-11) with 15 points and eight rebounds, and Ryan Brimley scored 13 points. Southern Utah, which saw a three-game winning streak end, faces Oakland in the Summit League tournament opener next Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D.
