DELAND, Fla. (AP) — Freshman Luis Jacobo scored a career-high 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Stetson to a 70-62 win over Jacksonville on Saturday night.

Stetson coach Derek Waugh, who is resigning, departed with his 120th career win — second-most on the school’s all-time wins list — in 11 seasons. The Hatters (8-23, 6-14 Atlantic Sun Conference) failed to qualify for the conference tournament.

Steve Forbes added 11 points off the bench for Stetson.

Jacksonville (19-10, 13-7) got 13 points apiece from Keith McDougald and Tevin Galvin.

Stetson made eight 3-pointers, including five in the first 11:30 to lead 23-11.

The closest Jacksonville got the rest of the way was four points, 32-28, on a dunk by Ayron Hardy with 15:17 to play. Stetson countered with an 8-0 run that included a 3-pointer and three free throws by Jacobo to get the lead back into double digits.
