AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Apolo Anton Ohno is still in shape a year after his last Olympics and clearly knows how to train for elite-level events.
But when it comes to his latest challenge, he can only shake his head and wonder what he got himself into.
Even for the most decorated Winter Olympian of all-time, Ohno knows running 26 miles at the New York City Marathon will be a daunting task.
Used to races that last anywhere from 40 seconds to 212 minutes, Ohno had to alter his training and mindset to have a chance at finishing the race through New York’s five boroughs.
An eight-time Olympic medalist in speedskating, Ohno said he’ll likely decide in December on whether to try for another Games.
