INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (AP) — Mark Philippoussis of Australia has withdrawn his request for a wild card into qualifying for the BNP Paribas Open.

He won the 1999 tournament in Indian Wells and was set to receive a wild card into qualifying for the March 7-20 event featuring the men’s and women’s pro tours.

Tournament officials said Tuesday that the Aussie will be competing in a senior event in Zurich, Switzerland, as part of his comeback, making him unavailable for Indian Wells.
