SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Kwame Morgan hit a 3-pointer with 0.8 seconds remaining and finished with a career-high 29 points as Hampton edged Colorado State 77-75 in the Hilltop Challenge on Saturday.

Darrion Pellum added 17 points for the Pirates (11-3) while Charles Funches and Christopher Tolson each had 10.

Adam Nigon and Andy Ogide scored 16 points apiece to lead the Rams (10-4), who had their six-game winning streak snapped. Dorian Green finished with 15.

Travis Franklin hit 1-of-2 free throws with 14 seconds left to give Colorado State a 75-74 lead, setting the stage for Morgan’s heroics. This was the second time in four games Morgan has hit a game-winning 3 in the final second. He lifted Hampton to a 62-59 victory over Liberty on Dec. 22.

Hampton led by 17 points in the first half before Colorado State trimmed the lead to 39-31 at halftime.
