St. Mary’s, Calif., turns away Hartford 87-63

MORAGA, Calif. (AP) — Mickey McConnell scored 21 points to lead five players in double figures and St. Mary’s, Calif., stayed unbeaten at home this season with an 87-63 victory over Hartford on Friday night.

Rob Jones added 15 points and six rebounds, Clint Steindl had 14 points and Mitch Young came off the bench for 13 points and eight rebounds for the Gaels (12-2). St. Mary’s has won six straight after back-to-back losses to then-No. 23 BYU and then-No. 17 San Diego State.

Morgan Sabia had a career-high 26 points on five 3-pointers for Hartford (2-10), which extended its season-worst losing streak to five games.
