Tairu, Singletary lead Texas Tech to 70-55 victory

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — David Tairu scored 18 points and Mike Singletary added 17 to lead Texas Tech to a 70-55 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday.

Singletary, who shot just 1 of 5 in the first half, scored 15 points in the second half. The senior made all five of his field goal attempts and added five free throws for the Red Raiders (7-7).

Justin Reynolds scored 20 points to pace the Islanders (5-9). He was 8 of 10 from the floor while the rest of his team combined to shoot just 23.8 percent.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi committed four turnovers in the closing minutes of the first half and Texas Tech took a 33-18 lead into the break. The Red Raiders extended their lead to 27 in the second half.
