Tulane’s 2nd half routs Texas-Pan American 88-65

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Jordan Callahan scored 22 points and Tulane broke the game open in the second half Sunday night on the way to an 88-65 victory over Texas-Pan American.

Tulane (10-3) scored 56 points in the final 20 minutes, making 15 of 27 shots from the field (55.6 percent) and 21 of 25 from the free-throw line (84 percent).

The Broncs (3-13), who lost their seventh straight, trailed 61-55 with 9:11 to go. Leading scorer Perry Petty tried to cut the deficit to five with his second free-throw try. But he missed and the Green Wave went on an 18-4 run to lead 79-59 with 4:14 left.

Kendall Timmons added 16 points and David Booker 15 for Tulane, which won its fourth in a row overall and its eighth straight home game over two seasons. The Green Wave outrebounded UTPA 39-21 as Timmons and Booker each grabbed nine.

Petty led the Broncs with 19 points and Aaron Urbanus added 15.
