AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A person with knowledge of the decision says Mississippi State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz has accepted an offer to hold the same job at Texas.
Diaz replaces Will Muschamp, who left Texas after three seasons to become the head coach at Florida. The person who confirmed the Diaz hire spoke on condition of anonymity because the hire has not been formally announced.
Diaz inherits a defense that struggled badly in last season as Texas went 5-7 in the Longhorns’ first losing season since 1997.
