IRVING, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys have called a Thursday afternoon news conference, presumably to announce their new head coach.

All signs point to Jason Garrett keeping the job after going 5-3 as interim coach. The team had been 1-7 before he was promoted from offensive coordinator and assistant head coach.

The only other candidates team owner Jerry Jones is known to have interviewed are receivers coach Ray Sherman and Miami assistant head coach Todd Bowles.

The announcement comes four days after the end of Dallas’ disappointing season.
