AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A person familiar with the decision says Boise State offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin has accepted an offer to become the co-coordinator at Texas.

Harsin replaces Greg Davis, who won a national championship with Texas in 2005 but resigned after the Longhorns went 5-7 last season and missed a bowl game for the first time since 1997. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Friday because Harsin’s move had not been officially announced.

Major Applewhite, a former Texas quarterback and the Longhorns’ running backs coach last season, also will be given the title of co-coordinator.

Hiring Harsin is the latest move in Texas coach Mack’ Brown staff shake-up. On Thursday, Texas introduced new defensive coordinator Manny Diaz, who spent last season with Mississippi State.
