TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have fired defensive coordinator Bill Davis.

The team announced the move late Thursday afternoon.

Davis joined the Cardinals as linebackers coach in 2007 and became defensive coordinator in 2009. He has been an assistant coach in the NFL for 19 years.

Arizona finished 5-11 this season and in last place in the NFC West.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday that changes would be made after his first losing season in his four years with the Cardinals.
