DENVER (AP) — The Phoenix Coyotes are without starting goalie Ilya Bryzgalov as he deals with a medical situation involving a family member.

Backup goalie Jason LaBarbera started in his place against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night. The Coyotes also recalled goalie Matt Climie from San Antonio of the American Hockey League.

The Coyotes said on their website that Bryzgalov is expected to be back with the team on Friday for practice.

Bryzgalov is 14-8-6 with a 2.62 goals-against average this season.
