Louisiana-Lafayette hangs on to beat Troy 93-91

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Travis Bureau scored 22 points and Randell Daigle added 17 to help Lousiana-Lafayette hang on to beat Troy 93-91 on Thursday night.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (3-11, 1-2 Sun Belt Conference) led 93-89 with 13 seconds to go before a layup from Will Weathers pulled the Trojans within two.

After a turnover from Raymone Andrews, Troy (2-12, 0-2) regained possession with 8 seconds to go, but Weathers missed a potential game-tying layup as time expired.

Weathers scored a career-high 32 to lead the Trojans. Weathers’ previous career high was 15 points, which he scored against Miami (Ohio) on Dec. 11.

Vernon Taylor added 20 points and seven rebounds for Troy. Bernard Toombs scored 15 and pulled down nine rebounds.

Louisiana-Lafayette shot 57.7 percent in the first half (15 of 26), but trailed 47-46 at halftime. The Ragin’ Cajuns outscored Troy in bench points 46-13.
