AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — Defending champion Yanina Wickmayer has outlasted China’s Peng Shuai to reach the ASB Classic final.
Wickmayer struggled with her serve, squandering her first match point with her ninth double fault before clinching a 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5 win Friday.
The second-seeded Belgian lost her cool with linesmen and the chair umpire after a series of disputed calls.
Wickmayer next plays Hungarian veteran Greta Arn, who beat Julia Goerges of Germany 7-6 (3), 6-3 to reach only her second WTA final.
