RIVERDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Sam Prescott scored 18 points as Marist defeated Manhattan 65-59 on Sunday, handing the Jaspers their 13th consecutive loss.

Prescott made two 3-pointers in the game’s first three minutes and the Red Foxes (4-13, 3-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) never trailed and snapped their own three-game losing streak.

Demetrius Jemison and George Beamon led Manhattan (2-13, 0-3) with 18 points. Jemison added 10 rebounds, as did Rhamel Brown.

But Jemison was key to the Jaspers’ second-half spurt and made two free throws with 6:04 left to cut the Marist lead to three, 51-48, with 6:04 left.

Dorvell Carter answered for Marist, hitting a 3-pointer with 5:31 left that gave the Red Foxes a six-point lead.

Beamon’s layup with 13 seconds left brought the Jaspers within two, 61-59, but R.J. Hall closed out the game with four free throws.
