GRAMBLING, La. (AP) — Marquiz Baker scored 20 points as Alcorn State overcame a 22-point deficit to win its first game of the season, 75-73 over Grambling State on Monday night.

Kendrick McDonald added 17 points and Jamar Ragland added 13 for Alcorn (1-13, 1-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Alcorn stumbled out of the gate to start the game, trailing by as much as 22 points — at 31-9 — in the first half. The Braves were still down 68-57 with 3:26 to go.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by McDonald and Baker quickly cut it to 68-63. Willis Brownlee, who had 10 points, tipped in McDonald’s miss to tie it late in regulation.
