Bethune-Cookman rallies to beat NC A&T 72-69

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — C.J. Reed scored 20 of his 24 points after halftime to help Bethune-Cookman rally from a 14-point deficit and beat North Carolina A&T 72-69 on Monday night.

Garrius Holloman added 17 points for the Wildcats (8-8, 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who trailed 36-25 at halftime and 48-34 with about 15 minutes left. But Bethune-Cookman went on an 18-3 run to take the lead, then took the lead for good on Mikel Trapp’s 3-pointer with 1:39 left.

Kevin Dukes hit two free throws with 3 seconds left to make it a three-point game, and Marc Hill committed a turnover on the Aggies’ final possession to end it.

Nic Simpson scored 25 points to lead N.C. A&T (7-9, 2-1), while Thomas Coleman added 22 points. The Aggies committed 22 turnovers, and the Wildcats managed 13 points off those turnovers in the second half.

Bethune-Cookman shot 53 percent from the field in the second half.
