FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Jets coach Rex Ryan says Darrelle Revis is “the best player in football” because the impact the Pro Bowl cornerback has on games is “amazing.”
Revis held Indianapolis’ Reggie Wayne to one catch for 1 yard Saturday night in New York’s 17-16 playoff victory. Ryan says Monday that shutting down the AFC’s leading receiver shows Revis is a “once-in-a-lifetime” player. He adds that teams don’t even throw to Revis’ side of the field because no matter who the receivers are, they’re not going to be open.
Revis, selected for his third straight Pro Bowl, has no interceptions this season and has said he has to fight boredom during games because of the lack of throws in his direction.
