Eastbound lane blocked; no serious injury reported

A log truck driver whose truck rolled over on state Highway 14 five miles east of Washougal on Tuesday afternoon was reported injured but declined to be checked at a hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident was reported about 2 p.m. in the Cape Horn area, in high winds but with a bare and dry road, officials said. No other vehicles were involved.

The truck and logs blocked the eastbound lane for about three hours.

Had the guardrail not caught the truck, it likely would have rolled hundreds of feet down the steep slope toward the Columbia River, a witness said.
