GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A Palestinian medical official says a person riding a motorcycle in the Gaza Strip has been killed in an Israeli airstrike.

Adham Abu Salmia says the airstrike took place in the southern Gaza Strip. He had no details on the man’s identity, and the Israeli military had no immediate comment.

The airstrike was the latest incident in a recent spike in violence between Israel and Palestinian militants. On Monday, three Palestinian rockets landed in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon.

Earlier Tuesday, Gaza’s ruling Hamas movement urged militants to halt their attacks, saying that continued violence would only invite Israeli reprisals.
