Thurlow came to the shelter as a stray and sadly, his family didn’t claim him. He is very sweet and would be in any loving home.

Sammy is a 7-year-old Jack Russell and border collie mix who was given up for adoption. Sammy is a little reserved with new people but warms up quickly. She would be happier in a home with kids older than 14 and a fenced yard.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
