Paradise Bound brings top price at Keeneland

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Paradise Bound has brought the day’s top price of $110,000 at the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale.

The 5-year-old mare by Pulpit was purchased Thursday by Roger Schipke in the name of Colts LLC from the consignment of Warrendale Sales, agent for Live Oak Plantation. Paradise Bound, offered as a broodmare prospect, is out of the graded stakes-placed mare Devotion Unbridled, by Unbridled.

Sales totaled $1,876,500 for 230 horses Thursday, an average of $8,159, down from last year’s $2,245,300 for 199 horses, an average of $11,283.

For the four days, 849 horses have sold for $24,354,850, an average of $28,687, up from 816 sold in 2010 for $22,799,200, an average of $27,940.

The sale continues through Friday.
