Tennessee Tech defeats Tenn.-Martin 109-105 in 3OT

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Kevin Murphy scored 25 points and Tennessee Tech outlasted Tennessee-Martin 109-105 in triple overtime Thursday night.

Zac Swansey added 19 points and 11 assists, including the 3-pointer that gave the Golden Eagles (8-7, 4-2 Ohio Valley Conference) the lead for good in the third overtime. He hit it with 1:38 to play, making it 106-103.

The Skyhawks (4-14, 0-7) had a chance to tie as Chase Dunn fouled Omari Minor on a layup with 1:25 left, giving Minor a chance to complete a three-point play. But Minor missed the free throw.

Mike Liabo missed a final tying 3-pointer with 6 seconds left.

Charles Newton sealed the win on two free throws with 2 seconds to go.

Troy King led Tennessee-Martin with 22 points.

Four players fouled out for each side, and Tennessee Tech was already without starting center Terrell Barnes, who was attending his grandmother’s funeral.
