CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — A pair of Oregon Duck fans have pleaded not guilty to stealing an oversized mascot head of ESPN college football analyst Lee Corso during the Civil War football game last month in Corvallis.

The Register-Guard newspaper in Eugene reports that August Cuneo of Eugene and Alexander Westerberg of Harrisburg entered the pleas during initial appearances Thursday in Benton County Circuit Court in Corvallis.

Oregon State Police troopers who tracked down the pair and the mascot head two days after the Dec. 4 game cited the men on felony theft charges. ESPN officials estimated the prop’s value at $5,000.

But prosecutors reviewed the case and decided to charge the pair with misdemeanors with no plans to seek jail time if they are convicted.
