RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — Richland police say a driver led them on a chase at speeds reaching 100 mph as he drove down the shoulders of Washington Highway 240 and Interstate 182.

Sgt. Darryl Judge tells the Tri-City Herald the driver crossed several lanes of traffic and took off Thursday when an officer tried to stop him for driving with a suspended license.

Police ended up calling off the pursuit.

Judge says 60-year-old Craig E. Ludwig of Finley later surrendered to police. He was booked into the Benton County Jail for investigation of second-degree assault, eluding a police vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
