KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — The child rape trial of Prosser’s former mayor has been delayed to give her attorney time to hire an expert witness.

Linda Lusk is accused of inviting a 14-year-old high school boy to her home in April and having sexual contact with him. She was originally charged with child molestation; charges of third-degree child rape and communication with a minor for immoral purposes were added last month.

Her attorney hasn’t specified what type of expert he plans to hire.

The Tri-City Herald reports that Benton County Superior Court Judge Carrie Runge agreed Friday to move the trial from Jan. 24 to March 7, over the objection of Prosecutor Andy Miller.
