LONDON (AP) — American midfielder Jermaine Jones is set to join Premier League club Blackburn on loan from Schalke.

After Blackburn’s 2-0 loss at Chelsea on Saturday, manager Steve Kean said the deal is close to being completed.

Jones, who made his U.S. national team debut in October, was sent to Schalke’s reserve team in November because coach Felix Magath was unhappy with his effort and commitment.

Jones was sidelined with a shin injury all season.
