TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Carl Richard scored on a tip-in at the buzzer as Indiana State rallied to beat Creighton 61-59 Sunday.

Jake Odum banked in a jumper to tie it at 59 with 53 seconds to play, and he had a shot to win it in the closing seconds. His 3-pointer was off the mark, but Richard was there for the putback, sending the Sycamores (11-7, 6-1 Missouri Valley) to their fifth straight win and best conference start since 1999-2000.

Doug McDermott scored 18 points to lead the Bluejays (12-7, 4-3), and Antoine Young had a career-high nine assists.

Aaron Carter scored a career-high 20 points for Indiana State, and Richard and Steve McWhorter each had 11.

Creighton led 46-38 with 13:19 to play before Indiana State rallied with a 10-0 run pull ahead with 7:11 to play. After that there were five ties and neither team led by more than three.
