MOLALLA, Ore. (AP) — A Molalla, Ore., Fire District spokeswoman says crews are trying to determine how a car wound up on its top, submerged in the fast-moving Molalla River.

Spokeswoman Denise Everhart says it’s possible someone might be in the vehicle spotted Tuesday but no active missing persons cases match the vehicle. She tells KGW-TV the car is too submerged to get an accurate license plate reading.

Everhart says the speed of the current and terrain in the area make it too dangerous to try to remove the car right now. She adds it may have been abandoned or could have been swept away in recent rains.
