MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema has promoted secondary coach Chris Ash and defensive line coach Charlie Partridge to co-defensive coordinators after the departure of Dave Doeren.

Doeren took the Northern Illinois head coaching job in December.

Bielema also hired Dave Huxtable, most recently the defensive coordinator at UCF, to coach linebackers.

Bielema says in a statement Tuesday both Ash and Partridge have done terrific jobs during their time at Wisconsin. The two were college teammates at Drake and on the coaching staff at the school in 1996-97.

Huxtable coached the last seven years at UCF, including three as defensive coordinator.

Wisconsin (11-2) won a share of the Big Ten title last year before losing 21-19 to TCU in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1.
