HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) — Mitch Rolls hit a jumper with 8 seconds left, lifting Colgate to an 80-79 victory over Lehigh Wednesday night.
C.J. McCollum, who led Lehigh with 24 points, missed a potential game-winning jumper as time expired. The Raiders (3-15, 1-3 Patriot League), who’ve had losing streaks of 11 and four games this season, have won back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Sterling Melville led Colgate with 15 points. Rolls and Joe Hoban each added 13, while Yaw Gyawu and Mike Venezia contributed 12 apiece.
After a 38-38 tie at halftime, the Mountain Hawks (10-9, 1-3) took a 63-51 lead with 12:20 to play on Anthony D’Orazio’s layup. The Raiders answered with eight straight points, and took their first lead of the second half, 78-77, on Melville’s free throws with 37 seconds to play.
McCollum’s jumper with 15 seconds left made it 79-78 and led to Rolls’ winning basket.
