MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Trey Zeigler had 27 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, and Central Michigan held on in the final minute for a 66-64 victory against Northern Illinois on Thursday night.

Andre Coimbra scored 14 points and William McClure 10 for the Chippewas (5-12, 2-2 Mid-American).

Northern Illinois (6-10, 2-2) had the last possession, but Xavier Silas, who led the Huskies with 24 points, had his shot blocked by Zeigler with 3 seconds left, and Tony Nixon missed a follow attempt before time expired.

Tim Toler had 14 points and Nate Rucker 12 for Northern Illinois.

In a game that was close the entire way — the largest lead for either team was eight points, and there were nine ties — Zeigler’s two free throws gave Central Michigan a 65-62 lead with 1:12 remaining. Silas’ jumper made it a one-point game, and Antonio Weary hit 1 of 2 free throws for the Chippewas with 10 seconds to play.
