FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Ben Botts scored 21 points and IPFW erased a 14-point deficit in the second half to beat North Dakota State 84-80 on Thursday night.
The Mastodons (12-6, 6-2 Summit) trailed 45-31 at halftime after shooting just 38.9 percent from the field in the first half. They remained behind 64-53 with a little more than eight minutes left but made a 17-6 run to tie it.
IPFW got its first lead of the half when Trey McCorkle hit a jumper with 2:13 to go. The Mastodons never trailed again.
McCorkle finished with 16 points while Zach Plackemeier added 15 and Jeremy Mixon 12.
Michael Tveidt scored 14 points to lead six players in double digits for the Bison (9-9, 3-5). Taylor Braun scored 13, Nate Zastrow 12, Marshall Bjorklund 11, Freddy Coleman 10 and Mike Felt 10 for North Dakota State.
The Mastodons shot 64.3 percent in the second half while the Bison shot 45.8 percent.
