CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers have hired John Matsko as offensive line coach a day after he was fired by Baltimore.

Matsko on Thursday became the second offense assistant hired by new coach Ron Rivera, joining offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski.

The 59-year-old Matsko won a Super Bowl ring as offensive line coach in St. Louis. He then went to Kansas City before moving to Baltimore where he spent the past three years.

Matsko was let go Wednesday after the Ravens struggled to protect Joe Flacco, who was sacked nine times in two playoff games.

The Cleveland native played at Kent State before coaching at several colleges, including North Carolina, before moving to the NFL.

Carolina’s line features Pro Bowl left tackle Jordan Gross.
