LONDON (AP) — Britain’s sports minister says soccer is England’s worst governed sport.
Hugh Robertson told the House of Commons on Thursday that the game is in need of urgent reform. But he says the government will await the outcome of an investigation by legislators.
Robertson says it is clear to him that soccer is “the worst governed sport in this country,” lagging far behind other sports.
Robertson was responding to a question by a Conservative Party legislator who told parliament that Premier League clubs are “hugely in debt” and the national team is “a disgrace.”
