LYNNWOOD, Wash. (AP) — The Washington State Patrol says a 14-year-old boy died when he either jumped or fell from an overpass onto northbound Interstate 5 in Lynnwood, Wash. The related crashes and investigation closed most of the northbound lanes for about three hours Friday afternoon, creating a five-mile backup.

Traffic began moving again shortly before 5 p.m.

The boy was not immediately identified.

KING-TV says troopers are trying to determine if the death was a suicide or an accident.

The patrol says the pedestrian was hit by a van, which swerved and hit a pickup truck. The pickup then spun out and hit a guardrail. Those two drivers were not injured.
