ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) — More than 200 people have turned out at a public meeting to discuss immigration raids that resulted in more than two dozen arrests in a central Washington college town.
Those attending the meeting at First United Methodist Church in Ellensburg include faculty members and students from Central Washington University.
Raymond Hall, CWU professor of African-American folklore, says he wants to show his support for community members, including students, who have had loved ones arrested.
Many in the Latino community in Ellensburg were hiding behind closed doors Friday after the early Thursday raid that resulted in more than two dozen arrests and left relatives scrambling to find child care for the children left behind.
Ellensburg is located about 90 miles east of Seattle.
