KITZBUEHEL, Austria (AP) — Italian skier Siegmar Klotz was taken to a hospital with minor injuries to his head, back and wrist after crashing during a World Cup downhill race.

The Italian Winter Sports Federation initially said Klotz had a broken arm, but tests showed that wasn’t the case. The federation said Klotz was expected to return home on Sunday.

The 23-year-old lost his balance on a jump near the end of his run, fell backward on the icy slope and slid into the safety nets in Kitzbuehel, Austria.

Klotz did not lose consciousness and moved his head and arm as he received first aid. He was taken by helicopter to a hospital.

Austrian skier Hans Grugger had brain surgery and is in an induced coma after crashing on the course two days ago.
