RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — The state-run Saudi news agency says King Abdullah will undergo rehabilitation in Morocco after two back surgeries in New York.
The Saudi Press Agency says the 86-year-old monarch arrived Saturday in Casablanca where he was received by Moroccan King Mohammed VI. He will stay for several weeks before heading home.
Abdullah had his first surgery in November for a slipped disk and a blood clot pressing on the nerves in his back. The second surgery, meant to stabilize a number of vertebrae, was performed early this month.
Before he left for the United States, Abdullah temporarily handed control of the kingdom to Crown Prince Sultan, his 85-year-old half brother.
