MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — The WTA has banned a member of Aravane Rezai’s family from future WTA tournaments pending an investigation.

A WTA said in a statement Sunday that a “serious safety matter” that was brought to its attention prompted it to suspend a member of Rezai’s family from tour events while it looks into report.

The 23-year-old Rezai was seeded 17th at the Australian Open. She was beaten in the first round in three sets by Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic.

Rezai was born in France and lives in Switzerland. She has won four WTA tournaments.
