TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Prosecutors have filed a first-degree murder charge against a 35-year-old man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death in her Tacoma home.

The News Tribune reports that a plea of not guilty was entered on behalf of Alphonso A. Bell at his arraignment in Pierce County Superior Court Monday afternoon.

Pierce County prosecutors said in court records that Bell stabbed 33-year-old Georgia Gunzer multiple times following an argument.

Police spokesman Mark Fulghum says although they no longer lived together they had gone out Friday night and returned to her house. The couple’s 10-year-old daughter and several friends were in the house at the time but didn’t see or hear the stabbing.
